2025 TEAM CANADA OLYMPIC DAY GRANT

In celebration of Olympic Day, recognized annually by the IOC on June 23, Team Canada is opening applications for the Team Canada Olympic Day Grant for Canadian schools with the goal of empowering students to play and stay in sport.

A total of 30 grants of up to $10,000 are available for schools across the country to fund programs and projects that enable more students to access sport and support students to stay in sport by promoting inclusion and creating safe and positive sporting experiences.

Schools will be able to apply for funding in three categories:

1. Equipment Grant (14 grants of $1,500 available)

The Equipment Grant is designed to provide schools with essential sporting equipment, ranging from balls and bats to nets and protective gear as well as professional development. By ensuring that schools have access to quality equipment, we aim to enhance the sporting experience for students, enabling them to participate more fully and safely in various sports activities.

Through this grant, we seek to remove barriers to entry and facilitate the enjoyment and development of sporting skills among students.

2. Advancing Safe & Inclusive Sport Grant (15 grants of $5,000 available)

The Safe Sport Grant provides funding to help schools develop and implement programs that ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all students participating in sports.

Schools can use this grant to create initiatives such as regular or on-going learning and development sessions for teachers and students, develop peer-led mentorship programs that promote respect and fair play, establish reporting systems for addressing and preventing inappropriate behavior, invest in improving the physical environments in the school to contribute to a sense of safety and belonging for the students (such as locker rooms, signage, etc), budget relieving items such as supporting coaches education and/or training and/or travel for a sports season, or the incorporation of true sport programming into a sports team season such as bringing in a true sport facilitator, signing the true sport agreement, nominating true sport champions on a monthly/weekly basis with a prize.

By investing in these programs, schools can cultivate a culture of safety, respect, and inclusion, empowering every student to participate confidently in physical activities and sports.

3. Infrastructure Grant (1 grant of $10,000 available)

The Infrastructure Grant focuses on improving the physical spaces and facilities that facilitate sports participation within schools. This grant can be utilized for projects such as upgrading gymnasiums and creating outdoor play areas.

By investing in sports infrastructure, we aim to create environments that inspire and enable students to engage in physical activity comfortably and confidently.

Additional elements:
